20:30 Ivan Farmakovsky
For many years Ivan Farmakovsky (piano) was a perfect candidate to suit a well-known jazz critics' category "talent deserving much wider recognition". Lots of jazz aficionados were familiar with his instrument's sounding but unfortunately just few knew his name. His program "Next to The Shadow" is a self-composed material marrying up the best of jazz traditions and modern jazz techniques. This work broke the deep-rooted Russian scepticism about music to be performed by a new line-up every time it is going to be performed: it was believed that only A-list American stars can afford to practice this way of performing. Farmakovsky proved that Russian musicians are also able to write music that is too complicated to be performed as a jam session and at the same time simple enough to cope with a constantly changing line-up. Ivan manages to draw in a new line up for each live concert and so far it has never been repeated. Each line up nuances "Next to the Shadow" in its own way adding slightly different individuality to every note.
