Ben-Hur
17:30, 23:30. Drama/Advanture. USA 2016, 123 min. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov. Starring: Jack Huston, Toby Kebbel, Rodrigo Santoro, Morgan Freeman. In English with Russian subtitles. Judah Ben-Hur, the heir to a Jewish kingdom, is falsely accused of treason by his best friend and adopted brother. For this, Ben-Hur is sentenced to forced labor, without even the opportunity to say goodbye to his own family. After spending many years fighting in the Roman coliseums, he finally earns the chance to return to his homeland and get revenge on his accused. Timur Bekmambetov continues his successful stint in Hollywood and returns with a remake of the famous 1959 film, directed by William Wyler, which received 11 Oscars - an Academy record.

Ten years have passed since the exposure of the Blackbriar operation. Jason Bourne, now cured of his amnesia, is hiding in Athens and is making a living by taking part in illegal mercenary operations. At the same time, Nicky Parsons, together with a group of hackers, breaks into a CIA mainframe and discovers documents related to Bourne’s recruitment for the Treadstone project and details about his father’s participation in the programme. She decides to go to Greece and track Bourne down. A sequel to “The Bourne Ultimatum” and the fifth part in the famous series, for which Paul Greengrass (winner of the Golden Bear for “Bloody Sunday”) returns to the director’s chair and Matt Damon to the leading role.

Sully
15:45, 19:45. Drama/Biography. USA 2016, 96 min. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Starring: Tom Hanks, Anna Gunn, Laura Linney, Aaron Eckhart. In English with Russian subtitles. The story of Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who on 15 January 2009 landed a plane with two failed engines in the Hudson River in New York. Nobody on board was seriously hurt. As a result, the event was called the “Miracle on the Hudson,” and Sullenberger was considered for official government recognition. But in spite of the admiration shown by the public, the relentless scrutiny of the press and the public investigation into the incident put the pilot’s reputation and career on the line, completely changing his life in the process. Clint Eastwood’s 37th film, based on the memoirs of the famous American pilot. The role of Sullenberger was played by Tom Hanks.

As he teeters between life and death in the real world, Louis Drax wanders in a mysterious space and meets its other inhabitants. At the same time, famous neurologist Allan Pascal, with the help of special technologies, tries to break into the secluded world of the boy’s consciousness. But the deeper he goes into the boy’s subconscious, the blurrier the barrier between the mystical and the real. A new thriller from the creators of “Mirrors” and “The Hills Have Eyes,” based on the famous British novel by Liz Jensen.

The Childhood of a Leader

France, at the end of the First World War. A young American named Prescott has recently moved with his parents to Paris. His father works for President Woodrow Wilson, but his work devours all his time. Meanwhile, Prescott’s mother is a devoutly religious woman, who spends the better part of every day praying. Due to this lack of attention, the boy quickly turns into a problem child. After yet another one of his outbursts, Prescott is kicked out of school and is placed under house arrest. The only person who seems to care about Prescott’s behavior is a maid named Mona. After she is caught secretly bringing the boy food, Prescott’s mother kicks her out of the house, and thus lets all her son’s fury loose in his desperate desire for freedom. A British historical drama from director Brady Corbet, based on Jean-Paul Sartre’s novella of the same name, about the childhood of a future fascist leader - and about the nature of fascism in general - starring Robert Pattinson, Bérénice Bejo, and Liam Cunningham. Recipient of the Luigi de Laurentiis Award and a prize for best direction in the Horizons programme at the 72nd Venice Film Festival.

Thriller/Drama. South Korea 2016, 144 min. Directed by Chan-wook Park. Starring: Min-hee Kim, Jung-woo Ha, Jin-woong Jo. In Korean with Russian subtitles. In the Japanese-occupied Korea of the 1930s, a gangster named Graf asks the professional thief Sook-hi to participate in a profitable heist. She must set herself up as a housekeeper in the home of the Japanese aristocrat Hideko, get close to her and her father, and help Graf charm her. The plan must culminate in Hideko being declared insane, which will allow Graf and Sook-hi to take over her fortune. A new psychological thriller from Chan-wook Park, though this time with allusions to the Marquis de Sade – simultaneously radical and full of ironic touches, with all of the genre’s typical clichés. The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The Light Between Oceans
11:40, 21:20. Drama. USA, Great Britain, New Zeland 2016, 130 min. Directed by Derek Cianfrance. Starring: Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Rachel Weisz. A veteran of the Western Front of World War I, Tom Sherbourne, is working as a lighthouse keeper. He and his wife, Isabel, live on a remote island not far from the Australian coast. In spite of their best efforts, the couple can’t manage to conceive children: several of Isabelle’s pregnancies have already ended in stillbirth, and it is slowly driving her mad. One day, a small boat washes ashore with a baby, and Isabel convinces Tom not to tell the coast guard, but to instead take the baby in as their own. When the girl grows older, they meet a woman named Hannah, whose daughter disappeared into the sea at roughly the same time as Isabel and Tom found theirs. Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Rachel Weisz, and Caren Pistorius star in the screen adaptation of the M.L. Stedman novel.
