National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia conducted by Bjarte Engeset (Norway) performs Jean Sibelius' Symphnony No. 2, Edvard Grieg's Piano concert, Geirr Tveitt's Suite No. 4. Soloist - Edna Stern (piano, France). Norwegian conductor Bjarte Engeset is considered one of the best ever graduates of Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Once a winner of the Conductor Competition in Norway, today he leads DalaSinfonietta orchestra (Sweden) and cooperates with many world-known outfits. He also does some research work and enthusiastically popularizes music by Johan Severin Svendsen, Geirr Tveitt, Julius Klengel, Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg, Christian August Sinding and other Norwegian and Flemish composers. It was Bjarte Engeset who applied strenuous effort to bring Geirr Tveitt's "Wedding Suite" from his grandiose symphonic series "100 Folk Songs of Hardanger" back on stage after almost half a century when most of the material burned in fire in composer's house. Since its debut in 1958 and recent world premiere "Wedding Suite" has been never performed as a whole. In Russia it will be performed for the first time. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
