19:00 Gregorian: Winter Chants (Germany)
GregorianGregorian is a band that originates from Hamburg, Germany. The band members consist of Frank Peterson, Carsten Heusmann, Jan-Eric Kohrs and Michael Soltau. Frank Peterson is the producer for the band and is the one who carefully selects the music for each of their albums. Once a year, he goes through his vast collection of music searching for the next pop and rock songs for the band to produce into their Gregorian style of music. He is very selective and is usually very good at picking the right combination of songs and genres to place together. Gregorian was initially a pop group named Enigma. They released their first and only album called Satisfaction in 1991. In 1998 they reinvented themselves into what they call the Gregorian style. The Gregorian style is a chant inspired version of modern pop and rock songs sung by twelve session and choir singers. Songs that make it to their album have to be able to translate into a 7-tone scale. They call this the Masters of Chant. They have released eight Masters of Chant albums since 1999. The albums include the original Masters of Chant, Masters of Chant Chapter I, Masters of Chant Chapter II, Masters of Chant Chapter III, Masters of Chant Chapter IV, Masters of Chant Chapter V, Masters of Chant Chapter VI and Masters of Chant Chapter VII. As well as the Masters of Chant albums, the group has also released a few other albums. The Dark Side which is also known as Masters of Chant V in Oceania, was released in 2004 and consisted of a slightly different sound than the original. It was more of darker repertoire. The Masterpieces, a compilation was released in 2005. Christmas Chants was released in 2006 and then Masters of Chant from Curb Records was released in 2007. In 2012 Gregorian announced international dates of their "Epic Chants World Tour 2013" in support of the album Epic Chants. And now Gregorian are touring with their "Winter Chants" program including such great Christmas hits as "Have Yourself a Little Merry Christmas", "Dancing in the Snow", "Mistletoe and Wine", "Jesu, Joy Man's Desiring" and many others.
