Insurance
Why Should you Insure your Shipment?
The vast majority of household good shipments arrive at their destination safely and in perfect condition. However, despite the specialist preparation of the treasured contents of your home for shipment, no matter who you move with and no matter what shipping method is used, there is always going to be some degree of risk attached to transporting your belongings thousands of miles across the globe. The only way to guarantee yourself total peace of mind is to make sure you have adequate insurance cover for every eventuality.

If your move is not covered under any personal or company insurance scheme, ask your moving company about their insurance cover. Insurance cover is normally charged at a certain percentage value of the total insured value of your personal belongings, depending on such factors as your destination country and the shipping method used.
Allied Pickfords - Our Insurance Cover
Allied Pickfords offers highly competitive and comprehensive full replacement insurance cover (subject to certain exclusions as per our insurance terms & conditions) for any shipping option and destination worldwide. Our insurance cover is especially designed to cover anything from kitchen utensils to treasured artworks and motor vehicles (subject to certain exclusions as stated in our insurance cover terms & conditions), and your goods will be insured against both damage and loss, irrespective of the cause. Our insurance coverage is ‘All Risks’, door-to-door, and includes 60 days storage insurance cover at both origin and destination. Should you require storage insurance beyond 60 days at either origin or destination, cover can be extended at a small extra cost.

When moving with Allied Pickfords we will supply you with a copy of our insurance form, insurance terms & conditions, and our insurance information leaflet. In order to effect cover, you must supply us with a completed and signed insurance form for each portion of your shipment (e.g. if you have an air and a sea shipment and want to insure both, you must complete and sign two insurance forms – one for each shipment). It is up to you to determine the insured value of your personal belongings, but it is recommended that you insure them at their replacement value in your destination country. Please note that owner-packed goods cannot be insured.
