Question:
What is Castellani's Solution?
RGB
Answer:
Castellani's solution Formula: Resorcinol 8% Phenol 4% Boric Acid 0.8% Alcohol (90%) 8.5% Acetone 4% Water to 100% It's both a disinfectant (active against some bacteria and fungi) and a drying agent (used for example as an adjunct in the treatment of lymphedema by tight-fitting garments, by protecting the underlying skin from maceration). Resorcinol is a mild irritant and hence may induce skin sensitization in some patients. It should be stored in well-closed container in a cool place and protected from light.
