Question:
I plan to go to Moscow for a couple of years, i have been in Russia before just geting a some business visa, i will be now working in Moscow,so i was told by some friend that the rules had changed and i need to get a work permit. What can you recomend me?
Michael H.
Answer:
Dear Michael,
The present situation with work permit is so, that before starting the work permit procedure, you should be sure that the company you are planning to work in has a right to hire foreign employees. Migration service in Russia requires this document from all companies and foreign citizens that want to get work permit. The procedure takes rather long period (about 3-4 months).
But as there is no strict regulation system about right to work in Russia, thus you can get another 1 year multiple-entry visa. Of course this can be only if You are not the Head of the company, or on another position that require signing some financial or other documents. If you are just planning to work as a common specialist, you can do it with multiple-entry visa and registration only. Of course we are speaking about the present situation and everything can change in the future, so in any case it is better to know if your company has a right to hire foreign employees.
