Question:
I got my one year visa through an agency and they have told me that I need to register with them every three months (each time it costs me $60)Is there any other way that I can register for a longer period of time (ie 9 months) or am I forced to go through the agency that 'invited' me?
AL
Answer:
Dear AL,
Please advise your inviting company that in accordance with the adoption of the Russian Government Resolution N 335 “On approval of regulation on form for visas, the procedure and conditions for their issue, extension, renewal in the event of loss and the procedure for their annulment” dated from 9 June 2003, validity of the registration of the multiple entry business visa decreases to 180 days(not 3 months!) since the moment of crossing the RF border.
Quotation from the law article 29: permanent stay of foreign citizens on the territory of RF on multiple entry business visa with validity up to one year can not exceed 180 days.
For the registration of a foreign citizen at his place of stay it is necessary to present one of the following: notarized letter from the landlord or lease agreement (if the validity of a lease agreement is more then 365 days then this agreement should be verified at Moszhilservice or Moscomregistration, if the validity is less then 365 days, then the agreement should not be verified letter from the landlord.
Only the organization which issued you an invitation can register you, you are forced to go there, but your inviting organization has to follow the State law so you have to insist on a 6 month registration.
In the future we can only recommend you to deal with more reliable companies and check all rules(such as registration) in the beginning.
