Rammstein
Formed in 1994 in East Berlin, Germany, this confrontational alternative rock band first came to international prominence after collaboration with the famous film and television director David Lynch. By that time, Rammstein's explosive, unhinged live shows had already made them famous in Europe. Rammstein is comprised of six members, all heavily involved in music: Till Lindemann, lead vocalist; Richard Kruspe, lead guitarist and backing vocalist; Paul Landers, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist; Oliver Riedel (also known as Ollie), bass guitarist; Christoph Schneider (also known as Doom), drummer and electronic percussionist; and Christian Lorenz (also known as Flake), keyboardist. All of the group’s members have been together since the time of their formation in 1994, and unlike many other groups in the industry, Rammstein has kept its original line-up of performers. Their pyrotechnics earned them comparisons to Kiss, but their frenzied industrial metal sound and dubious lyrics were less obviously commercial. Those lyrics, touching on subjects including child molestation and natural and man-made catastrophes, at first saw them attract a right-wing audience - although the band strenuously deny that this was their intention.
Rammstein made their debut in September 1995 with "Herzeleid", produced in Sweden by Jacob Hellner on a modest budget. Nevertheless, the record sold in excess of half a million copies in Germany alone, and established the band as a potent commercial force. By the time "Sehnsucht" followed in August 1997, they had extended their popularity via a clutch of headlining appearances at European festivals. "Sehnsucht" entered the German charts at number one immediately upon its release and came very close to doing the same in Austria and Switzerland. Following Lynch's inclusion of two Rammstein songs on the soundtrack to his 1996 movie "Lost Highway", US gore-metal fans, who followed controversial acts such as Marilyn Manson and KMFDM, were also won over. "Mutter" was released in 2001, sparking Rammstein tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and featuring "classic" hits like "Sonne", "Ich vill" and "Feuer frei!". "Reise" followed in 2004, and the live collection "Volkerball" was issued in 2006. The band's latest album, "Liebe Ist fur Alle Da" was released in 2009 and followed by a large-scale tour over Europe and USA.

Deathstars
Notable for their dark horror-themed lyrics, pessimistic and misanthropic social commentary, distinctive trademark face paint and stage uniforms, Deathstars is a Swedish industrial metal band formed in 2000. The current lineup consists primarily of members from Swordmaster, a black metal project that has former members of Dissection, and Ophthalamia. Today the band is made up of Whiplasher Bernadotte (lead vocals), Nightmare Industries (guitar and keyboards), Skinny Disco (bass guitar, backing vocals), Bone W Machine (drums) and Cat Casino (guitar).
Deathstars released their first album in 2002 with Synthetic Generation on the label LED Recordings. It turned out to be quite a success for an independent label release, reaching the Swedish charts, and earning the group a recording deal with the European division of one of the most large-scale international metal labels, "Nuclear Blast", which reissued the album internationally in 2003. The band's second album titled "Termination Bliss" was issued in 2006 and reached the Swedish charts as well, giving the band an opportunity to support the worldfamous monsters of black metal, Cradle of Filth, during their 2006 tour in Europe. The group's third, latest album, "Night Electric Night" released in 2009 became Deathstars' most successfull project, reaching the Top Ten in Sweden and charting in several other European countries.
