Kasabian (UK) Kasabian's band members come from the Leicestershire villages of Blaby and Countesthorpe. Having met while attending Leysland High School and Countesthorpe Community College, they formed a band which took its name from Linda Kasabian, the young pregnant girl who drove the car in which the killers escaped after the murder of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, the second of the Tate-LaBianca murders. Kasabian's music style, characterized by the fusion of indie rock and electronic genres, rough vocal style and phsycedelic motives, is often compared to the one of Primal Scream, The Stone Roses and Oasis.

The band released their self-titled debut album in September 2004 in the UK. During the recording, Kasabian's members chose to live in a farmhouse at Rutland Water, in order to be able to concentrate fully on their work. Despite having two prior single releases with debut single "Processed Beats" and lead single "Reason Is Treason", it was their third single release "Club Foot" that finally brought Kasabian success in the singles charts and introduced the band to the world audience. Another outstanding hit released by the band was titled “L.S.F.”. The album itself had good sales and positive reviews.

During the recording of Kasabian’s second album, "Empire", Christopher Karloff, one of the band’s chief songwriters, according to the band’s website, had "artistic and creative differences" and left the band, contributing his writing skills to three of the songs on on the album, including the title track. "Empire" was released on August 28, 2006 focusing on the matter of the horrors of war, and the problems of waging it. In October 2006, the band recorded a live session for Live from Abbey Road at the famed studios. The song “Empire”, a self-described "call to arms" and the first single from the album of the same name, reached #9 in the UK charts, another single, “Shoot the Runner”, reached #17 in charts. In 2007 Kasabian won the Best Live Act award NME Awards and started a tour to support the album, performing at a number of festivals, including Isle of Wight Festival and Glastonbury Festival.

In late 2007 the band started working at their third album with a famous producer Dan the Automator, well known for his work on the first Gorillaz album. "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum", finally released in 2009, immediately reached #1 in the UK Albums Chart. Kasabian's frontmant, Tom Meighan, chararacterised the album as a "very psychedelic", saying, that "there’s very much elements of the first but it’s a more distant sounding Kasabian than we have been with the last two albums". He also commented on the title, “It’s a loony title mate, but we have a couple of titles and we have picked one that has lots of words, it’s a tongue twister!”

"Velociraptor!", Kasabian's latest album was released in September 2011. One of the album's tracks titled "Green Fairy" featured on the London Boulevard soundtrack. When the band members were asked about their choice of the album's title, Sergio Pizzorno gave an answer: "Velociraptors used to hunt in packs of four. They were the rock’n’roll band of the dinosaurs". The music style of the fourth album differs from the one of the previous three records, featuring more phsycodelic motives and elements of space rock. In the beginning of the 2012 the band is planning to go on an album supporting tour involving a number of concerts in USA and other countries.
