19:00, 21:00. A special Christmas edition of the SOUND UP festival of new music will open the winter holiday season. The December 19 concert will feature Christmas hits arranged by Moscow composer Igor Yakovenko, who deftly drifts between rigorous classical, jazz, and non-academic experiments. New versions of timeless hits like Let it Snow by Frank Sinatra, Last Christmas by George Michael, Driving home for Christmas by Chris Rhee and many others, without which it's impossible to imagine Christmas and the New Year, will be performed by a star of the national jazz scene, a singer with an unforgettable voice Olga Sinyayeva and the best Russian jazz musicians. The band includes a native of Ufa and a student of American jazz masters, the saxophonist Azat Gayfullin and the virtuoso drummer Pavel Timofeev, who has performed on equal terms with stars from both sides of the ocean. Diana Uspenskaya, an improviser, will add a pinch of New Year magic, captivating the audience with the captivating sounds of the harp. SOUND UP Christmas will be held in the format of two chamber concerts on the stage of the Rassvet palace, a favorite venue for Moscow music lovers and everyone who is interested in what is happening in the art of music here and now. You may buy tickets here. DK Rassvet |
