19:00 La Traviata
Based on the opera in two acts by Giuseppe Verdi. 130 min (with one intermission). Musical version: Evgeny Kolobov. Conductor: Valery Kritskov. Sung in Italian with Russian surtitles. This production prefers black to bright colours. Novaya Opera’s La Traviata is not a romantic love story, but a tragedy of love and death. The performance begins and ends with Violetta’s death. In the interim, Violetta, like a wounded bird, thrashes and rushes about, trying to break out from the closed circuit of her own destiny. The production reveals the gap between the current and the last century. The theatre not only feels sympathy for Violetta and Alfredo, but mourns over them. "Such a professional in all its components, complete and unpredictable performance has not been seen not only at the Novaya Opera, but in the whole of Moscow for a long time," The Kultura newspaper. "In this performance the nerves are naked. The reactions are rapid and spontaneous. The producers have enlarged the emotions of the characters, leaving only the gist of the story and throwing off what in their opinion is useless entourage, décor," Supplement to the Pervoe Sentyabrya — Iskusstvo newspaper. "Traviata is an example of a present-day production as it should be like but seldom is — intellectual, stylish, benecial and infatuating," The Moscow Tribune newspaper.

19:00 Orlando, Orlando
Opera Seria in three acts by George Friedrich Handel. Performed with one intermission. Libretto by K.S. Capece based on the poem by L. Ariosto "Orlando furioso". Stage Director: Georgy Isaakyan. Music Director: Andrew Lawrence-King (UK). In Italian with Russian subtitles. "Helikon” addresses to baroque music, and Handel's opera" Orlando", until now not presented on any Moscow stage, at last will find its place in the opera world of the capital. However in “Helikon” the performance is titled “Orlando, Orlando”. The director Georgy Isaakyan with the composer Gabriel Prokofiev, the specialist in baroque music Andrew Lawrence-King and the set designer from Austria Hartmut Schorghofer are creating the new reality, which unites the marvelous Handel’s composition and the tragic story, happened in Orlando (Florida, USA). “The thought about this production came to me after this horrible murder in the night club in Orlando, Florida, - remembering the director Georgy Isaakyan. Suddenly the thought about the "otherness" came up to me. Very often the “another” existence - by nationality, social or sexual orientation – provokes violent conflicts. We have discovered the important connection between the genius Handel’s composition and the real story not only in the name coincidence. The “Orlando, Orlando” performance will force us to take a thought about many things, but the main message is in to explore how far is it possible to go into your illusions and yourself "otherness"? Are we ready to accept the world as it is in the real life.
