Kandinsky Award 2008
Painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, performance, installations. Kandinsky Award 2008 aims to develop Russian modern art, find new interesting projects and artists, define basic tendencies of the artistic process, influence its cultural-aesthetic content, involve new participants and strengthen positions on the world scene. The award takes place for the second time, and this year the exhibition of the nominees moved from WinZavod to the Central House of Artists and took 3,500 square meters. Just like last year, this time everything is exhibited alternately – Siniye Nosy (Blue Noses), Aidan Salakhova, Sergey Shekhovtsov, Sergey Chilikov, Dmitry Tsvetkov – and just like last year it looks a bit absurdly.

Pierre Brochet's collection "Future depends on you" Paintings
The director of his own publishing house, the owner of russian house, russian wife and what is more important vast collection of russian art - Pierre Brochet happened to be at the right place at the right time. In 1989 he read in some french magazine about "the contemporary art in Soviet Union", fell in love with it, packed the suitcase and moved to Moscow. Once there, he made friends with many progressive artists who either sold their paintings to him for ridiculous money or just gave them just for free to this european out of gratitude for being so nice and understanding to them. After the reorganization contemporary art began to go up in price, but Brochet continued to purchase it until he had gathered considerable collection, big enough to fill up all four floors of Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art and that you can see starting from 15th of May up to 17th of June.
