International Contemporary Dance Festival DanceInversion celebrates its 20th anniversary! During these years Moscow has welcomed almost 90 choreographers as well as numerous professionals from: 5 continents and the Islands of New Zealand, Ireland and Cuba, 30 countries, 78 companies. The Festival's mission has always been the discovery of new names and new styles of dance art. DanceInversion remains true to this ethos and includes the names of both professional artists and exciting newcomers. The outstanding master of contemporary dance and winner of the Laurence Olivier prize (2019), Akram Khan, combines an Indian sense of rhythm and plasticity with aesthetics from contemporary dance in his Outwitting the Devil. He explores both old and new myths in the context of an ever-changing world to the sounds of Vincenzo Lamagna, a British composer known for his industrial rhythms, flowing melodies and soundscapes. The production is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper and its reinterpretation The First Supper by Australian artist Susan Dorothea White.
