At first, it seems that everything is really going better than before, but these are just first impressions. Contradictions and problems pile up, eventually destroying the family from the inside.

Johan Botha sings his first company performances of the demanding title role, in a cast that also includes Peter Mattei as Wolfram, his second Met Wagner role; Günther Groissböck as the Landgraf; and Eva-Maria Westbroek as Elisabeth and Michelle DeYoung as Venus, the human and divine rivals for Tannhäuser’s affection. Undine, an employee of the Berlin History Museum, can tell you a lot about the architecture of the German capital. But her personal life remains unhappy. The sadness does not last long: soon she meets a diver named Christophe who is impressed by Undine's lecture. Together, they will learn a lot about happiness and pain, intimacy and separation, as well as the mystical side of the city. This is a new film dedicated to Berlin by Christian Petzold, one of the leaders of the "Berlin school."
