In English and German with Russian subtitles. Franz Jagerstatter lived with his family in a tiny Austrian mountain village when the Anschluss occurred. Along with the other men, he was drafted into the army. As a deeply religious Christian, Franz was convinced that Hitler was the embodiment of evil and refused to take an oath. Regardless of the deadly threats to himself and his family, he didn’t compromise and betray his convictions. The film is based on a true story of a modest hero who refused to serve in the Nazi army during World War II.

The team of the SOUND UP contemporary music festival together with Praktika Theater and the Brusnikin Studio present the world premiere of a documentary opera "Ascetic", starring Andrei Sakharov, a scientist, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist. The opera "Ascetic" does not retell the physicist's biography, but instead helps us make sense of the "tragic archetype" of a man of science obsessed with the mysteries of existence. Translating Sakharov's idea of the existence of multiple universes into the metaphorical language of art, the creators of the opera have constructed a multidimensional stage project that combines features of documentary theater, opera, and mystery. Facts from the life of the physicist are intertwined with evangelical stories, ancient mythology and the history of the monk Giordano Bruno, who was once a victim of the Inquisition for his revolutionary ideas about the structure of the cosmos. The seven parts of the opera echo the seven days of Holy Week. In the opera's finale, the protagonist, fascinated by the universe and its mysteries, finds himself at the zero point of European culture and philosophy, the space of ancient tragedy, whose cycle - from Jesus to Bruno, from Bruno to the ascetic - is doomed to endless repetitions. "Ascetic" brings together a favorite of the independent theater scene, director Yuri Kviatkovsky, composer Nikolai Popov, who experiments in electroacoustics, and master storyteller and playwright Mikhail Degtyarev.

Instead of calling the police she decides to take care of Jade. She sees in her the opportunity to pass on her skills, the craft of dressmaking, her only wealth.
