Drama, biography. USA 2018, 120 min. Directed by Felix van Groeningen. Starring: Steve Carell, Timothée Chalamet, Maura Tierney, Christian Convery. In English with Russian subtitles. At age 18, Nic was a top student and the editor of the school paper, acted in school plays, and played on the water polo team. He spent days voraciously reading and drawing, and planned on going to college in the fall. But at the moment when he was meant to finish school, an addiction that started as teenage fun turned into a serious threat to his future. “Beautiful Boy” tells about the Sheff family’s fight with their son’s destructive addiction and the saving quality of parental love. The father in the film was played by famous American actor Steve Carell (“Bruce Almighty,” “Foxcatcher,” “The Big Short”), and his son, Nic Sheff, by one of the brightest young stars, Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me By Your Name”), who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his work on “Beautiful Boy.” Pioner Cinema on Kutuzovsky |
