17:00 Piercing
Thriller. USA 2018, 81 min. Directed by Nicolas Peske. Starring: Christopher Abbott, Mia Wasikowska, Laia Costa. In English with Russian subtitles. Reed, by all accounts a good man, kisses his wife and baby goodbye and seemingly heads away on business. But instead of suits, his suitcase holds a toolkit of an early-career serial killer — rope, a screwdriver, belts and cling wrap. Reed planned everything carefully: he’ll check into a hotel on the outskirts, kill a prostitute, and after getting rid of the gruesome evidence, he’ll continue his peaceful family life. But his call girl, Jackie, turns out not to be an easy victim. In this one feverish night, the balance of power changes more than once, and audiences become unwitting participants in a bloody game of cat and mouse, balanced on a razor’s edge between psychological thriller and dark comedy. A bold adaptation of a novel by sensational Japanese writer Ryu Murakami.
