Blade Runner
18:45, 23:05. Science fiction, thriller, detective, drama. USA 1982, 117 min. Directed by Ridley Scott. Starring: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Daryl Hannah. In English with Russian subtitles. One of the most important films in the history of science fiction and a real masterpiece by Ridley Scott. A film based on Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" tells the story of a futuristic Los Angeles in which the main character must find escaped androids, rebelling against their position in the new world order as slaves. They do not want to die and refuse to give up, and the hero will have to face them—to discover a great deal about himself, too.

12:35. Drama. USA, UK, Canada 2019, 116 min. Directed by Viggo Mortensen. Starring: Viggo Mortensen, Lance Henriksen, Sverrir Gudnason, Laura Linney, David Cronenberg. In English with Russian subtitles. A tough and somewhat uncompromising family drama that tells the story of a gay man living with his partner and an aging, dementia-stricken homophobic father. The relationship between father and son, already strained, is heated to the limit. This is the directorial debut of famous Danish actor Viggo Mortensen. However, in this film, Viggo also plays the main role and is the author of the script to boot, while the great David Cronenberg also appears in a small role in the film.

Royal Shakespeare Theatre 2016, 214 min. Directed by Gregory Doran. Starring: Natalie Simpson, Paapa Essiedu, Oliver Johnstone. In English. King Lear has ruled for many years. As age begins to overtake him, he decides to divide his kingdom amongst his children, living out his days without the burden of power. Misjudging his children’s loyalty and finding himself alone in the wilderness, he is left to confront the mistakes of a life that has brought him to this point. Antony Sher returns to the RSC to play King Lear, one of the greatest parts written by Shakespeare in this, one of Shakespeare’s most epic and powerful plays. Watch online here.

Joyce DiDonato gives a sensational performance as Mary, Queen of Scots, in Donizetti’s bel canto drama, opposite Elza van den Heever as Queen Elizabeth. This Live in HD presentation of David McVicar’s acclaimed 2012 production also stars Matthew Polenzani as Leicester, the man caught between the rival queens. Maurizio Benini conducts. One summer's evening, two ageing writers, Hirst and Spooner, meet in a Hampstead pub and continue their drinking into the night at Hirst's stately house nearby. As the pair become increasingly inebriated, and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game, further complicated by the return home of two sinister younger men. Also starring Owen Teale and Damien Molony, don’t miss this glorious revival of Pinter’s comic classic.

The Metropolitan Opera 2016, 185 min (with intermission). Directed by David McVicar. Starring: Sondra Radvanovsky, Elīna Garanča, Matthew Polenzani. In Italian. The final opera in Donizetti’s “Tudor trilogy” focuses on the older Queen Elizabeth I, who is forced to sign the death warrant of the nobleman she loves. Sir David McVicar, who directed the Met premieres of Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda, returns to stage the final installment in the series. Acclaimed bel canto soprano Sondra Radvanovsky will sing Elizabeth I in Roberto Devereux as well as the title roles in Anna Bolena and Maria Stuarda over the course of the season, a famous feat performed by Beverly Sills at New York City Opera in the 1970s and not repeated in New York since. Roberto Devereux also stars Matthew Polenzani as the title character; Elīna Garanča as Sara, the Duchess of Nottingham and the queen’s secret rival; and Mariusz Kwiecien as the Duke of Nottingham. In English and French with Russian subtitles. William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a romance staple, making its appearance in the Bolshoi Ballet’s Repertoire. The tale of star-crossed lovers, the passionate and emotional choreography, and Sergei Prokofiev’s famous score, make the ballet a true classic of the 20th century Repertoire. Alexei Ratmansky’s new version of Romeo and Juliet was performed in the Bolshoi Theatre and recorded for Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema, with Ekaterina Krysanova and Vladislav Lantratov dancing the title roles.
