An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn
09:10. Comedy, Crime. UK, USA 2018, 108 min. Directed by Jim Hosking. Starring: Aubrey Plaza, Matt Berry, Emile Hirsch, Jemaine Clement, Craig Robinson. In English with Russian subtitles. Lulu Danger is growing bored in a dull marriage with Shane, the owner of a fast food restaurant, who fires her from her job and locks her up at home with nothing to do but watch stupid TV shows. One day, she sees an ad for "An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn; For One Magical Night Only." Lulu becomes obsessed: to meet this mysterious actor, she is ready to run from her tyrannical husband and even steal his money. Shane gives chase, and thus begins a series of wild, absurd, stupid, and gut-busting hilarious events that make audiences remember David Lynch, Wes Anderson, and black-and-white silent comedies with their chases and banana-peel slips all at once.

Greener Grass
12:30. Comedy. USA 2019, 95 min. Directed by Jocelyn DeBoer and Dawn Luebbe. Starring: D'Arcy Carden, Dot-Marie Jones, Neil Casey. In English with Russian subtitles. In a day-glo-colored, bizarro version of suburbia where adults wear braces on their already-straight teeth, everyone drives golf carts, and children magically turn into golden retrievers, soccer moms and best friends Jill (Jocelyn DeBoer) and Lisa (Dawn Luebbe) are locked in a passive aggressive battle-of-the-wills that takes a turn into the sinister when Lisa begins systematically taking over every aspect of Jill's life--starting with her newborn daughter. Meanwhile, a psycho yoga teacher killer is on the loose, Jill's husband (Beck Bennett) has developed a curious taste for pool water, and Lisa is pregnant with a soccer ball. That's just the tip of the gloriously weird iceberg that is the feature debut from writers-directors Jocelyn DeBoer and Dawn Luebbe, a hilariously demented, Stepford Wives-on-acid satire destined to be an instant cult classic.

The Matrix
13:30. Fantasy, Action. USA 1999, 136 min. Directed by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski. Starring: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving. In English with Russian subtitles. “The Matrix,” which hit theaters in 1999, instantly became a cult classic and influenced many aspects of contemporary life, from film to the fashion industry. The futuristic thriller, which combined the traditions of 20th century sci-fi, the philosophy of Baudrillard and Zizek, references to the New Testament and revolutionary visual effects, changed the reality and worldview of an entire generation. Now the legendary fantasy is coming back to the big screen yet again, exactly 20 years after it first appeared in Russia.
