19:30 The Taming of the Shrew
Ballet production. Russia 2015, 114 min. Ballet in two acts based on the play by William Shakespeare to music by Dmitri Shostakovich. Choreography by Jean-Christophe Maillot. Costume Designer: Augustin Maillot. Music Director: Igor Dronov. Répétiteurs: Yan Godovsky, Victor Barykin, Josu Zabala. The most vivid contemporary work currently performed at the Bolshoy was created by the choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot to music of the great Dmitriy Shostakovich based on the play by William Shakespeare. This is the first new production by the artistic director of Monte-Carlo ballet created wholly outside of his home stage – and each character you see on stage was rooted in the personalities of artists of the Bolshoy company.
