18:00 Clara-Jumi Kang (Germany-Korea)
Clara-Jumi Kang and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia will perform works by Kancheli, Szymanowski and Saint-Saens. Multi-award winning German-Korean violinist, Clara-Jumi Kang is an artist of supreme sophistication, impeccable refinement and poise. Winner of the Indianapolis International Violin Competition (2010), Seoul Violin Competition (2009) and the Sendai Violin Competition (2010), she has carved an international career performing with leading orchestras and conductors across Asia and Europe. Kang’s first solo album entitled “Modern Solo” was released on Deccain 2011 and featured works including Schubert’s ErlK?nig and Ysa?e Solo Sonatas. Her second recording for the label of Brahms and Schumann Violin Sonatas with pianist Yeol-Eum Son was released in 2016. A devoted chamber musician, Kang is a regular visitor to festivals across Asia and Europe, with recent highlights including the Pyeongchang, Hong Kong, Ishikawa and Marvao Chamber Music Festivals. She is also a member of the Berlin Spectrum Concerts series and has collaborated with artists including Boris Berezovsky, Boris Brovtsyn, Eldar Nebolsin, Gidon Kremer, Guy Braunstein, Julian Rachlin, Maxim Rysanov, Misha Maisky, Sunwook Kim, Vadim Repin and Yeol Eum Son. The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia (NPR) was founded in January 2003 by the Ministry of Culture. The Orchestra united top orchestra musicians and gifted youth. During the years of its activities, the NPR has succeeded in becoming one of the best symphonic orchestras of Russia and in gaining admiration from the audience and recognition from the professionals. The Orchestra is headed by Maestro Vladimir Spivakov, a world-known violinist and conductor.
