The Christmas concert of the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra and Maestro Vladimir Spivakov with great soloists, the world famous Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say and the guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre soprano Nadezhda Gulitskaya. For 35 years, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and its maestro, Vladimir Spivakov, one of the world’s most prominent conductors and violinists, have set the gold standard for chamber music performance. The Washington Post has hailed the Virtuosi as “a dramatically unified ensemble” with “a sound that would put many full orchestras to shame”. The ensemble – top-ranking soloists from the great orchestras of Russia – has garnered superlatives through both live performances around the world and more than 30 recordings on BMG/RCA Victor Red Seal of standard repertoire, lesser known gems and new creations. Since 1989, the Moscow Virtuosi have participated annually in the International Music Festival in Colmar, France, where Maestro Spivakov is the Artistic Director. In 1990, upon invitation of Felipe, Prince of Asturias, the orchestra have left to Spain, but kept performing both in Russia and all over the world. In 1999, the orchestra returned to Russia. In 2003, the orchestra received their own headquarters at Moscow International House of Music, where Vladimir Spivakov is one of the co-founders. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
