[edit] Description
Gosudarstvenny Kremlevsky Dvorets, or The State Kremlin Palace was once the Palace of Congresses in Kremlin. It was completed in 1961 by Mikhail Posokhin. The modern building of concrete and glass is 120 meters (390 ft) long; it was sunk 15 m (48.5 ft) down into the ground not to dwarf the surrounding buildings. It remains a peculiar monument of Soviet times. Now renamed to the State Kremlin Palace, it is used by the Kremlin Ballet Company and for staging operas and rock concerts.
