Russian Alphabet derives from the Greek one, but both Greek and Latin alphabets derive from the same Shumer source. That is why there are many alike letters. Russian alphabet has 33 letters (the names of the letters are in square brackets): А [a], Б [be], В [ve], Г [ge], Д [de], Е [ie], Ё [io], Ж [zhe], З [ze], И [i:], Й [y], К [ka], Л [el], М [em], Н [en], О [o], П [pe], Р [er], С [es], Т [te], У [u], Ф [ef], Х [kha], Ц [tse], Ч [tcha], Ш [sha], Щ [shcha], Ъ [hard sign], Ы [i], Ь [soft sign], Э [e], Ю [iu], Я [ia].
