Post-Stalinist Architecture
From Moscowiki
So-called “Khruschev’s thaw” put an end to Stalin's Empire Style - it was changed by many dull identical five-storied houses of concrete panels (Khruschevki). The purpose was quite humane: to provide dwelling for millions of homeless people or those who lived in communal flats sharing apartment with several other families. Today all khruschevki are to be destroyed and replaced with new high buildings.
