Ostankinsky park with Ostankino estate museum is located close to VVTs. Ostankino was mentioned for the first time in the 16th century, but the oldest preserved building, the Church of Trinity, is dated 17th century. In the 18th century the estate was bought by Sheremetevy nobles’ family; one of the first theatres in Russia was organised in this very building; all the actors here were serfs. This theatre still has one of the best acoustics in Moscow; moreover, it is the only preserved theatre of the 18th century. Now the palace houses a museum with rich collections of paintings and sculptures by West-European and Russian artists (serf artists as well), rare engravings, objects of glass, crystal, porcelain.

A considerable part of the Ostankinsky Park is occupied by the main Botanic Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences with more than 2000 kinds of roses, 400 kinds of lilac and plenty of exotic plants. Ostankino is also the location of one of the highest constructions in the world – Ostankino TV tower (537 metres high).
