[edit] Description
Chambers of the Old English Court are considered to be among the oldest civil buildings in Moscow dating to the late 15th – early 16th centuries. In 1556 Ivan the Terrible granted to house to English merchants after conclusion of an English-Russian trade treaty. Since that time for about hundred years it served as the official residence of the “Moskovskaya Company” and the first embassy of England in Russia. The exhibition includes an early 17th century interior of the Official Hall. English-speaking guides in historical costumes, as well as detailed commentaries and museum’s souvenir shop, are at guest’s disposal. The Official Hall can be hired out for some ceremonies.
