[edit] Moscow - Heart of Russia
Moscow is the capital of Russia. Is population is about 14 million people. Moscow was first mentioned in 1147. In the end of the XV century Moscow became the capital of the appearing united Russian country. Moscow has long and fascinating history.
[edit] Genuine Moscow=
‘Moscow is expanding, growing up, to the unknown stratosphere, and down, to the underground depths of the Metro with its sparkling marble halls…In my old age I live afresh … on the verge of two centuries, on the brink of two different worlds,’ wrote in December 1934 Vladimir Gilyarovsky, a well-known connoisseur of Moscow. Moscow has changed greatly since 1930s, as it always did. People who come to Moscow for the first time always ask the same question: “Where’s the genuine Moscow?” Our answer is also always the same: “Moscow is all genuine!” Unlike Venice, Prague or St. Petersburg, Moscow has no unified style of the streets; its unique spirit is created by the vivid combination of controversial styles, different epochs and various architectural tendencies. Wide modern highways are interwoven with dozens of crooked and narrow streets, lanes and dead-ends; sumptuous palaces of 18th and 19th centuries neighbour with tedious typical buildings of the Soviet era. Tourists visiting Moscow always mention that it is being constantly renewed. In Middle Ages and in Tsarist times, in Soviet era and nowadays – Moscow always astonished its visitors with the amount of buildings under construction. The entire streets are being rebuilt, new huge business centers and luxury apartment houses are being erected; Moscow Metro, already huge enough, is also rapidly expanding into the suburbs, and its carrying capacity (3,200,000,000 persons per year) even now exceeds the ones of New York and London subways taken together. Old churches are being restored and new ones are being constructed – life boils over in ancient Moscow.
[edit] Moscow is a Megapolis
As any other megapolis (and it is a megapolis with more than 10–million population, 2 million of cars and 130 000 buildings), Moscow has its problems: traffic jams, a huge financial gap between different strata of society, and, of course, ecological problems, now common for every big city in the world. Nevertheless, the quantity of tourists visiting Moscow is growing year by year, and, according to the plans of Moscow government, in 2010 more than 5 million tourists will visit the Russian capital.
[edit] Moscow Beauty
This old city can astonish not only tourists, but even native Muscovites. Walking around Moscow, you will discover the magic beauty of its streets and parks, narrow cosy lanes, magnificent palaces and bridges. Moscow is vivid and controversial, full of bright colours of wide avenues and charming secrets of narrow lanes, sparkling in sunshine of July and wet under the chilly rains of November… An ancient city with rich history and age-old traditions, it has a pretty hobby to change its face from season to season, from street to street, from area to area, from year to year, from age to age...
