[edit] Description
Hermitage Garden was opened in 1894 by Jakov Schukin, former servant who had become an entrepreneur, and used to be a place where theatre performances, shows and fetes were arranged. It was here that in 1896 Muscovites could see the famous train arrival in the first ever movie by Lumier brothers. And in 1898 the premier of the play “Tsar Fedor Ioannovich” commemorated the beginning of Moskovsky Khudozhestvenny Theatre. Today there are several theatres, one opera theatre in “Hermitage” and in winter a skating ring with several cafés is organised. Many concerts take part in Hermitage Garden outdoor.
