[edit] Description
Dmitry Bertman, chief director of Helicon Opera, created his theatre when he was only 22. He gathered young and talented actors and musicians under one roof of the 18th-century mansion in Moscow downtown. He produced a new understanding of opera theatre, believing it to be art of the future.
[edit] Operas
The theatre performs well-known operas, including such rare stagings as "Mavra" by Igor Stravinsky, "Magdalene" by Sergey Prokofiev, "Rothschild's Violin" by Benjamin Fleishman and "Hin und Zurueck" by Paul Hindemith. At Helicon you can also get acquainted with non-traditional interpretations of famous Russian operas: “Evgeny Onegin” and “Queen of Spades” by Petr Chaikovsky, “Golden Cock” by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, and staged for the first time in Russia “Peter the Great” by Andre Gretri.
