[edit] Description

This is the last apartment, where the famous Russian writer Alexey Tolstoi (“Peter the Great”, “A Long Ordeal”) lived in 1941 – 1945. The house is a part of the former Sergey Ryabushinsky’s Estate built in Art Nouveau style in early XX century by the prominent Russian architect Fedor Shekhtel.

Alexey Tolstoi was a connoisseur of art and beauty. He carefully chose all items of the interior: ancient furniture, paintings, lamps, china. These antiquities helped the writer to plunge into distant epochs represented in his books.
