13:00 Blood of my Blood
Drama. Italy, France, Switzerland 2015, 106 min. Directed by Marco Bellocchio. Starring: Alba Rohrwacher, Roberto Herlitzka, Pier Giorgio Bellocchio, Lidya Liberman, Federica Fracassi. In Italian with Russian subtitles. Church hierarchs have begun an inquest into the Bobbio monastery, as they accuse Sister Benedetta of seducing the priest Fabrizio, causing him to kill himself. Such a crime, they say, could only be committed by a witch. Her torturers demand from her a complete confession to satanic intrigues, using the most sophisticated techniques of fire and water. Federico, the suicidal priest’s twin brother, arrives at the monastery and bears witness to the horrible humiliation. He too believes Benedetta to be a criminal, but he too soon falls victim to her charms. Thus begins the story of a cursed monastery, the echoes of which are felt to the present day…
A new film by Italian director Marco Bellocchio — an aesthetic and theatrical mystery that blurs the lines between the past and the present. Nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival (2015).
