Jupiter is a young anglo-french band based in Paris. The two members of Jupiter met on a dancefloor cleared by a slightly too retro hit. Their shared passion for a time tainted by glitter and care-free music drove them to bond together and write music halfway between «Thank God It’s Friday» and «Purple Rain». Jupiter's trendy retro-electronics with a delicate female vocal suited the taste of Valerie - a new dance music team from the western coast of France, and it didn't take long for a duet to be joint to the community. Unpretentious, but anxiously nice Jupiter's songs sometimes remind of Fred Falke, and Annie or Sally Shapiro-like Swedish disco pop. The duet produces their own material, makes remixes on Valerie's major stardoms, improves songs of the most progressive bands like Metronomy making them digestible for the new disco parties as well as performs covers of the disco king Patrick Juvet. They first gained attention following official remixes for Anoraak, Metronomy or Two Door Cinema Club. Their first two EPs, Starlighter and Vox Populi excited the blogosphere and allowed them to be featured on a number of releases by the French label Kitsuné, including the «Saké» and «Kass Limon» EPs. At the present moment the band is working on a debut LP. Reka |
